THE WORD: 1 Corinthians 1:21
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe.
LET’S PRAY
Lord, help me to discern and reject the idolatry in my own heart and mind, and to courageously communicate the Christian message to those around me, trusting in the power of the gospel to bring salvation and hope to humanity.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
As I reflect on Acts 17, I am reminded of the pervasive idolatry that exists in our world today. Paul, in Athens, saw a city given over to idolatry, but not just physical idols – he saw idolatry in the very fabric of human logic and philosophy.
The problem of humanity is not just external idols, but the idolatry of our own minds and hearts. We must recognize that idolatry is a psychological and philosophical issue that requires a spiritual solution. As believers, we have a responsibility to communicate the Christian message to those around us, even if it seems foolish to the world.
We must not be afraid to share the truth of the gospel, trusting in its power to bring salvation and hope to humanity.
Will you join me in praying for the courage to share the gospel with those around us, and for the wisdom to communicate it in a way that is clear and understandable to all?
