THE WORD: Isaiah 64:8
And yet, O LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, I pray for the courage to surrender my past, my fears, and my negative patterns to your transformative power. Fill me with your love and grace, renew my heart and spirit, and help me to believe in my identity as your chosen vessel of honor. I relinquish control and ask that you shape and mold me according to your perfect will. Give me the strength to embrace my vulnerabilities and trust in your mercy to transform them into something beautiful. Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Remember this: clay doesn’t change on its own; it’s the potter who has the power to shape it. Isaiah reminds us that we are all formed by God’s hand. This is a big deal. It means you don’t have to spend your life stuck with your fears and flaws, wondering how you’ll ever fix yourself. If there’s an issue, God can change you. If you’re not the person God intends, He can transform you. Anger, malice, jealousy, fear—no matter what you’ve struggled with, you don’t have to continue struggling. Why? Because God can change you.
What about the circumstances you were born into? Maybe you came from a poor family, or your parents battled addictions. Perhaps no one in your family has ever had a lasting, loving relationship, and you’ve come to think that’s your fate. Here’s the good news: your past doesn’t dictate your future. The potter has the final say.
Where did you get the idea that change isn’t possible? Why believe statements like “I’ll always be this way”? When you catch a cold, you don’t say, “It’s just my nature to have a runny nose; I can’t do anything about it.” No, you seek help. Shouldn’t you do the same for your struggles with sin, negative attitudes, and selfish behavior? What the world sees as worthless, God sees as precious. Like a skilled potter, He can take you, shape you, and make you into something valuable (see 2 Timothy 2:21). All you need to do is place your life in His hands.
