THE WORD: Galatians 6:9
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, I lift up my Egyptian brothers and sisters in prayer. Lord, protect them from harm, grant them courage and resilience in the face of adversity, and provide them with legal recognition and freedom from persecution. It may be hard for them. They may even want to give up. But Lord I pray, strengthen their faith and grant them unwavering perseverance as they navigate the challenges they face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Christians in Egypt have been facing increasing challenges in recent years. They experience discrimination, pressure to change their faith, and occasionally violence. The situation is particularly difficult for those who have converted from Islam to Christianity, as they are unable to change their official religious status on identification documents.
Although conversion is not technically illegal, some individuals still face imprisonment or are forced to flee for their safety. Certain regions, such as Upper Egypt, experience more intense pressure than others.
The exact number of people who have converted to Christianity from Muslim backgrounds is uncertain, but it has undoubtedly increased. Some Egyptian religious authorities claim the number could be as high as one million, which is likely an overestimation. However, even if the actual figure is in the thousands, it represents a significant shift.
Despite these obstacles, many Egyptians continue to find strength and hope in their Christian faith. Their perseverance in the face of adversity is both remarkable and inspiring.
