THE WORD: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, I come before you today, grieved by the violence that has taken place in Southport. I pray for comfort for the families of the three young girls who were killed and the others who have been injured in the aftermath. I ask for peace to return to Southport, for the anger and fear to be replaced with compassion and understanding.
I pray for wisdom and justice for the authorities as they investigate this tragedy and for the truth to prevail over misinformation and prejudice. I pray for unity and understanding between different communities, and for a spirit of compassion, that comes from a true encounter with you, that will guide us all toward a more just and peaceful world.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The news from Southport is devastating. Three innocent girls were brutally taken from their families, and many others have been left injured. This tragedy has ignited a fire of anger and fear, fueled by misinformation and a deep-seated frustration with immigration policies. We must pray for the victims and their families, for peace to return to Southport, and for the truth to be revealed.
We need the authorities to act with wisdom and compassion, and for the community to reject prejudice and choose understanding. Too many lives are being lost. Too many homes are being destroyed. Too many futures are being put in jeopardy. We need change! Let us pray for God to heal the wounds of this tragedy and to guide us toward a more just and peaceful future.
