THE WORD: Matthew 4:4
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, I pray that You will help me to receive a new, fresh, timely word from You daily to nourish me on my journey. Stir up within me a desperation, hunger, and thirst to receive Your specific word for me each new day. Replenish me with Your Word, refresh me, and give me spiritual stamina and provision to keep waiting for and walking towards the fullness of Your promises.
Lord, I want to find joy in Your presence and not in the attainment of things or status. Renew my mind. Renew my perspective. Make my joy full as I walk in obedience to Your love for me. You alone are enough. Help me to believe that. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
When Jesus taught us how to pray, He said, “Give us this day our daily bread.” I doubt that this would surprise you, but this isn’t just about physical bread; it’s about receiving God’s Word, fresh and new, every single day. What if I told you that you weren’t made to live off yesterday’s leftovers. Yesterday’s time with God. Yesterday’s Bible Study. Yesterday’s meditation may not be enough. You need today’s nourishment to keep going. Yes, God has an overarching plan for your life, and He also has specific “right now” words to nourish you daily on that journey. Galatians speak of not growing weary in doing good, and the cure to the weariness of doing good is receiving that daily bread, that daily word straight from the mouth of God Himself.
We need that satisfaction that can come only with daily meetings with the Lord. Don’t wait for some future fulfillment or status to feel complete. The world lies to you, telling you that joy comes from attaining things or status. But the truth is, joy is found in God’s presence, and you can experience it daily. You have a chance to be joyful daily if you can be in His presence. But it requires desperation, hunger, and thirst for His Word.
So, I urge you to pray with me, as we ask God for an appetitive for His word every day, no matter how small it may seem.
