THE WORD: 2 Corinthians 7:10-11
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, I come before you today, seeking a deeper and more meaningful walk with You. May my faith in You grow stronger with each day. I long for that confidence that is rooted in the knowledge of Your faithfulness and love. As I obey Your commands and surrender to Your will, I ask that You would continue to demonstrate Your power and goodness in my life.
Father, put me in circumstances and situations that will create in me a humble heart, willing to repent and turn away from my own desires when they do not align with Your plans. May I be sensitive to Your voice, guiding me in my decision-making and leading me in the path of righteousness.
As I repent and turn to You, I pray that Your Spirit would bring about a godly sorrow in my heart, leading me to a deeper understanding of Your love and a desire to live a life that is pleasing to You.
Thank You, Father, for Your love and mercy. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
As I walk with Christ, I realise this more and more: my belief in Him produces confidence that grows with experience.
Just like how you grow confidence in crossing the street with each step, your confidence in Christ can grow as you obey His commands and allow Him to show Himself to be true in your life. But obedience requires humility. And humility requires repentance. We can’t seek confidence, and skip repentance. Remember, repentance isn’t just about feeling sorry for your mistakes, but it’s about changing the way you think and live.
As 2 Corinthians 7:10-11 says, ‘Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.’ Let’s pray that we will experience this kind of repentance, producing diligence in our walk with God, making us more careful about how we live, and more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s voice. The only kind of repentance we should desire, is the kind that aligns us more with God.
