THE WORD: Hebrews 11:6
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, I come to you today, asking that you help me to follow your instructions carefully and do what you say with all my heart. Cultivate within me the faith to trust you, even when I don’t understand what you’re doing or how you’re working.
Help me to wait patiently for your guidance instead of trying to figure everything out on my own. I know I’m weak and I need you, so I ask that You help me to receive your grace and allow it to pour into my life and make up for what I lack. Help me to put You first and surrender my plans and ways to Your leadership, so that I can live according to your will and experience your blessing.
In Jesus’ Name. Amen
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Do you have those days, those moments, where you feel like an athlete, training day after day without seeing immediate results? Are you getting restless, waiting for “something to happen”? Maybe you are losing confidence that this practice and obedience will yield the desired effect when the time for performance arrives? We all know the saying, practice makes perfect. But here is a better one: perfect practice makes perfect. It’s not just about going through the motions of prayer, Bible reading, and spiritual disciplines. How we do it matters just as much as our doing of it. What am I saying? You must follow God’s instructions meticulously and with diligence.
You can do what God said, but not do it properly. This especially happens when God’s ways don’t align with our human patterns and logic. He may prompt you to spend more time in prayer than you planned, and suddenly you are in a place where your faith in His ability to accomplish everything else within the remaining time is tested. But remember this, faithful obedience, even when it seems impractical, is what positions you, and aligns you with His will.
So yes, it may seem impractical. Yes, you may feel particularly confused about God’s leading. But take comfort – He doesn’t always reveal the full picture at once. Be obedient to these promptings, even if the greater context is unclear. Your simple, trusting obedience is building something greater.
