THE WORD: 2 Corinthians 5:14-15
For Christ’s love compels us, since we have reached this conclusion: If one died for all, then all died. And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and was raised again.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, I pray that You help me understand the true meaning of serving You, not as a means to fill some void in You, but as a way to be a conduit for Your love and goodness to flow to others. Create in me a pure conscience, free from selfish motives and hidden agendas, that I may serve others with a heart that is untainted by self-interest, but rather solely from Your love.
Fill my heart with a genuine desire to see others flourish in their walk with You, and fuel my service with unceasing prayer and concern for others, that I may bring joy and blessings to those around me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Let’s address a common misconception about what it means to serve God. Many of us mistakenly believe that serving God implies bringing something directly to Him for His benefit, as if He were lacking or in need. But the truth is, our Almighty Creator is not some cartoon character who requires us to dance before Him or offer sacrifices to appease His hunger. No, when we speak of serving God, we are actually referring to making His love, grace, and truth available for the benefit of others. It’s not about filling a perceived void in God; it’s about being a conduit through which His goodness can flow to bless and uplift those around us.
And at the core of this understanding of service is the concept of a pure conscience. A pure conscience is the very foundation upon which authentic, Scriptural service is built. Take a moment to pray, and ask God to create in you a pure conscience, free from selfish motives and hidden agendas, that you may serve others with a heart that is truly His.
