THE WORD: John 15:5
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, help me to discern whether I am truly abiding in You, or just professing faith. I pray that my life would produce fruit that lasts, fruit that brings glory to Your name and blesses others. Help me not to be like a useless branch, cast away and burnt, but rather a fruitful branch that abides in You and bears much fruit. May my life be a reflection of Your love and character, and may I bring joy and honour to You in all that I do.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Yesterday I asked: are you bearing fruit in your life? Are you remaining in Christ, allowing His life to flow through you? Or are you like a branch that’s withering away, producing nothing? But what does it mean to abide? To abide (or remain) in Christ means to depend on Him for everything, allowing His life to be reproduced in and through us. It’s about maintaining constant contact and communication with Him.
How do we do that? Firstly, through contact—remaining connected to Christ through prayer, worship, and fellowship with other believers. It’s really just about making Him our top priority in life, above all else. Secondly, through communication—immersing ourselves in His Word and engaging in prayer. The Bible is our guide, and prayer is our dialogue with God. We need one to really get the most out of the other. When we abide in Him and His Word abides in us, our prayers align with His will, and He promises to answer them.
Don’t let your life be like a useless branch, cast away and burned. Instead, choose to abide in Christ and experience the joy of producing fruit that lasts.
