THE WORD: John 3:17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, help me understand that Your judgement is not about punishment, but about freedom from sin’s grasp. Help me discard misconceptions about Your forgiveness and see it as a deliberate separation from sin. Help me recognise that Your forgiveness isn’t about remembering to thank You to stay in Your good graces, but about Your loving and liberating work in my life.
Help me understand that my forgiveness is anchored in Christ’s blood, not in my actions or feelings. Help me be freed from condemnation and fear, and instead, experience a relationship with You based on understanding Your profound love and forgiveness.
Help me live a life of freedom and joy, knowing that You desire a relationship with me, not based on fear, but on understanding Your love and forgiveness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will He keep His anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
Psalm 103 emphasises that God doesn’t deal with us according to our sins. His judgement is about freeing us from the bonds of sin, liberating us from its destructive forces. It’s not about a vengeful God, but a loving one. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that God’s forgiveness isn’t about remembering to thank Him to stay in His good graces. It’s a deliberate separation of us from our sins. His judgement isn’t punishment; it’s liberation. Say it with me: In Christ, I have redemption through His blood, forgiveness of sins, and access to spiritual blessings. Do you know in your heart and understand that it’s not your acts or promises that secure forgiveness; it’s what Christ did on the cross.
We’ve been delivered from the power of darkness, which isn’t just sin but also ignorance of God’s forgiveness. Even as believers, when we stumble, God’s forgiveness remains. As you pray, remember that God desires a relationship with you, not based on fear, but on understanding His love and forgiveness. So, take a deep breath, and let the weight of His forgiveness lift you up, setting you free to live a life of freedom and joy.
