If you love me, keep my commands.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, help me to stop trying to find a balance between my desires and Your commands, reveal to me where I’ve been saying no to You and trying to find a way to please myself, and give me the courage to say yes to Your instructions, even when it’s hard, so I can prioritise our relationship and put Your desires above my own.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Have you ever attempted to strike a bargain with God? You know, where you say, ‘God, I hear You, but can I just do it my way?’ Or, ‘Can I just do a bit of what You’re asking, but still get to do what I want?’ That’s not love, my friend. That’s self-love. And it’s a deception that can seep into our relationship with God. We think we’re being loving and compromising, but really, we’re just trying to get our own way. It’s time to stop playing games and start taking our relationship with God seriously.
Where have we been trying to find a middle ground with God, instead of obeying His commands? The truth is, when we compromise with God, we’re not showing love, we’re showing disobedience. We’re saying that our way is better than His way. But God’s way is always best. So let’s make a decision today to stop compromising and start obeying.
Let’s prioritise God’s desires above our own and trust that He knows what’s best for us.
