THE WORD: Hosea 6:6
I want you to show love, not offer sacrifices. I want you to know me more than I want burnt offerings.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, help me to focus on loving and knowing You, rather than relying on my own efforts. Help me to believe in Your unconditional love and acceptance of me, rejecting the lies of Satan and embracing my righteousness in Jesus Christ. Help me to repent and believe what You have said is true, regardless of my past mistakes. I am loved, not because of what I do, but because of who You are.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
As you consider Hosea 6:6, remember that God wants you to show love, not offer sacrifices. He wants you to know Him more than He wants burnt offerings. But are you guilty of having more faith in what you do – like fasting – than who God is? Have you ever been frustrated because “it didn’t work” and wondered why? Perhaps it’s because God was trying to renew your heart, your perspective, and your belief in Him, not what you do.
So I want to ask you: Are you convinced that apart from what you do, God loves you? Or are you still trying to earn His love and acceptance through your actions? Ask yourself: As I am, is my love enough to lead me to obedience? Or am I still trying to obey God’s commandments without truly loving Him?
You need to know that God says that if you love Him, you will obey His commands. But the obedience of the commandments is not the focal point. It’s love. It’s love that He cares about, and God has stated that He loves you, not because of what you do, but because of who He is.
But do you believe that? Or have you considered that there may be moments where you choose to put your faith in your efforts more than God’s love towards you? We’ve all been there. So, take a moment to pray, and let God’s love transform your heart.
