THE WORD: Matthew 7:22-23
Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practise lawlessness!
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, help me to search my heart. Help me to understand my motivations, and process my pain with truth. Lord, where I struggle to recognize that You care about my heart and are for me, teach me the truth of who You are. Help me to obey You with fear and reverence.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
As you read these words, I urge you to take a step back and examine your heart. Ask yourself, ‘Why do I do what I do for God?’ Is it because of what He can do for me, or is it because I genuinely love and esteem Him? We’ve got to be honest with ourselves. The Lord is interested in knowing you. Yes, you. That means it’s not just what you can do for Him. Let’s say it this way: the Lord is interested in knowing you, more than the signs and wonders He can do through you .He wants your heart, and He cares about the pain and offence you’ve been carrying. Yes. That ugly heartbreak. Yes, that betrayal. Yes, that comment from your manager. He cares.
Don’t try to deal with your pain on your own. Remember, Jesus is not allergic to human pain. He understands it, and He can help you process it with truth. Let Him in. He cares!
