THE WORD: Acts 17:24

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.

Have you ever found yourself caught up in the world’s distractions, neglecting the most important relationship in your life – the one with God? In the book of Acts, chapter 17, we meet the Apostle Paul, dedicated to spreading the gospel, as he travels through Greece. We see him observing the Greeks’ deep involvement in religious matters. They were a people deeply involved in discussions about the divine, always trying to figure out who to worship and how to do it right. However, there was a significant gap in their quest. They had filled their lives with numerous objects of worship, yet they had overlooked the one true God, the Maker of the heavens and the earth. This insight serves as a powerful reminder of how easily we can misplace our worship. How often do we, too, become absorbed by things and the pursuit of getting “Christianity” right, rather than focusing on God Himself?

But this reflection isn’t meant to make you feel guilty; it’s a reminder of the truth. Only God can meet the deepest needs of our hearts and bring true purpose and fulfilment to our lives. 

So let’s pray together, asking the Holy Spirit to help us recognise the distractions in our lives and guide us in aligning our desires with God’s will. May we prioritise our relationship with Him above all else, and experience the richness and meaning that comes from truly knowing and worshipping the one true God.
