THE WORD: Luke 6:46
Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and not do what I say?
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, help me to marry my words with actions, by giving me a deeper understanding of your instructions, so that I can put them into practice, demonstrating my love and trust in you through tangible actions.’
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
It’s time to examine your heart and ask yourself: Are you just saying you love God, or are you actually showing it through your actions? We often sing songs of worship, saying ‘Lord, I love you,’ but the Bible says, ‘To love the Lord is to obey his commandments’ (John 14:15). It’s not enough to just say you trust God; trust is an action, not just a speech.
In the same way, being thankful isn’t just a feeling; it’s a posture and an action. We need to move beyond just speaking and into action, demonstrating our love and trust in God through tangible obedience. Remember, a believer without instruction is just a doer, but with God’s guidance, we can become doers of His word (James 1:22-25).
Pray with me today: ‘Lord, help me to marry my words with actions, by giving me a deeper understanding of your instructions, so that I can put them into practice, demonstrating my love and trust in you through tangible actions.’ Take a moment to listen to God’s voice, and ask Him to guide you into a deeper level of obedience. Don’t just say you love God; show it through your actions. Get an instruction, get a word of instruction, and marry your confession with action. As Jesus said, ‘If you love me, obey my commandments’ (John 14:15).
