THE WORD: Philippians 4:8
Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, I surrender all falsehoods, lies, deception, and wrong ideas that are hindering my experience of You, and I choose to trust in Your goodness and sovereignty, no matter what I know or have heard.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Are you allowing your knowledge and experiences to get in the way of your faith? Are you like Nathanael, who was so quick to counter the truth about Jesus because of his preconceived notions about Nazareth? Or are you like Sarah, who let her knowledge of her circumstances override the promise of God? Maybe you’re like the Israelites who doubted God’s promise to give them the land of Canaan, not because they had personally experienced the giants and fortified cities, but because they heard the negative report of the 10 spies. They let fear and doubt creep in, and it cost them dearly.
Don’t let your knowledge of good things or your awareness of what others are doing hold you back from experiencing God’s goodness. It’s time to surrender all falsehoods, lies, and deception that are causing you to doubt and question God’s promises. Remember when people used to say ‘men are trash’? It was a narrative that spread like wildfire, not because of personal experience, but because of what they heard. What are we hearing today that’s causing us to doubt God’s goodness? Let’s pray a prayer of surrender, surrendering all falsehoods and lies, and choosing to trust in God’s sovereignty, no matter what we know or have heard.
