THE WORD: 2 Corinthians 5:20

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

As you read these words, remember that you are called to be an ambassador for Christ, just as Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:20. You represent Christ in every aspect of your life, and it’s crucial to understand the weight of this responsibility. You see, an ambassador is a representative or promoter of a specified activity. In this case, you represent Christ, and your actions should be a reflection of God’s heart, motive, and activity. As Paul said, ‘We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”’ (2 Corinthians 5:20 NLT).

Think about it, when people see you, they should be able to trace it back to God’s activity. It’s not about personal motives, but about serving as a vessel for God’s work. Just like Moses, who wrote the words in the book of Exodus, which even Jesus himself described as the commands of God. And remember Peter’s words in Acts 1:16, ‘the Holy Spirit, speaking through King David.’ When people saw David, they saw God’s activity. They heard David speak, and they heard God’s voice. It’s the same with us. When people see us, they should see God. When they hear us speak, they should hear God’s voice.

Let’s take this call to ambassadorship seriously and pray for the courage and wisdom to represent Christ faithfully, that when people see us, they may see God.
