THE WORD: Deuteronomy 8:10
When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.
LET’S PRAY
Heavenly Father, help me to remember Your divine nature and the countless miracles You perform. Help me to learn from the mistakes of others in Scripture. Guide me to establish practices and routines that keep my faith alive, fresh in our memories, and rooted in Your divine presence. Help me to see the world through Your eyes, remembering always Your love and provision. Amen.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
The Bible is full of instances where people have failed to remember the nature and ability of God. For example, the disciples got scared during a storm, even though Jesus—who could calm the storm just by speaking—was with them.
Another interesting moment is when Jesus warns the disciples about the ‘yeast’ of the Pharisees, where ‘yeast’ is a metaphor for their teaching. But the disciples miss the point, and instead start worrying about who forgot to bring bread, despite just witnessing Jesus feed the 5000.
Have you noticed that we tend to forget the amazing things God has done as life seems to get more and more comfortable? He can do an amazing thing everyday for a month, and soon that will become our standard. Now we no longer feel the need to praise. It’s not right. So let’s make a change. Let’s pray.
