Day 267/365 – Reminder: True Thanksgiving

THE WORD: Luke 18:14

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.

LET’S PRAY

Lord, teach me the true meaning of thanksgiving. Help me to approach you with the humility of the tax collector, acknowledging my need for your grace. Open my eyes to see your greatness and fill my heart with sincere gratitude for who you are, not for what I have done. In Jesus’ name. Amen

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector paints a contrast between two approaches to prayer and thanksgiving. While the Pharisee boasted of his own righteousness, the tax collector humbly acknowledged his need for God’s mercy. This story challenges us: are our hearts filled with genuine gratitude, or are we blinded by self-righteousness?

Let’s not fall into the trap of empty praise, focusing on our accomplishments instead of God’s goodness. Thanksgiving is not the time to boast and to brag about all the great stuff we have going on in our lives. Instead, let’s approach Him with humility and sincerity, recognizing our dependence on His grace. Join me in prayer, asking God to transform our hearts, shaping them into vessels overflowing with authentic thanksgiving that honors Him above all else.
