DAY 31/365 – Religious and Ethnic Rifts: Unrest in West Africa

THE WORD: MATTHEW 5:9

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

LET’S PRAY

I pray for peace, reconciliation, and unity in West Africa. Bring healing to the divisions caused by religion and ethnicity. Grant wisdom to leaders and communities alike. May love triumph over discord, and may your peace reign in this troubled land.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Brothers and sisters, haven’t we witnessed the pain of religious division in West Africa? In places like Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire, tensions between Islam and Christianity simmer, sometimes erupting into violence. These fault lines often intersect with ethnic divides, creating a volatile mix that fuels hatred and conflict. Communities once bound by shared history now bear the scars of unrest.

The situation is complex, faith and ethnicity tightly interwoven. But despair is not the answer! Let’s pray for a spirit of reconciliation in West Africa. May hearts soften, walls crumble, and understanding blossom.
