DAY 91/365 – From Performance to True Abiding

THE WORD: JOHN 15:4
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
LET’S PRAY
God, help me see where I’m trying to do things on my own instead of trusting You. Take me deeper in my relationship with You, so I can feel Your presence more. Help me understand what You want me to do and how to hear You better. Free me from the pressure to be perfect or please others. Let my actions show the love of Jesus in my life.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Have you ever questioned how deep your faith goes? God desires a close relationship with you, not just sometimes, but always. It can be confusing to know what’s truly good versus what might seem good on the surface. Think of a pretty but poisonous plant; our actions might seem okay, but if they’re not based on faith, they won’t last. We need God’s help, just like a branch needs a vine to bear fruit. Let’s talk to God (pray) and ask for His wisdom to make good choices. We don’t have to be perfect; instead, let’s focus on getting closer to Jesus. When we do, the good things we do will come naturally from our faith.
